TAKE ACTION: Public Hearing on Portland Police Bureau allocation of personnel time and budgetary impacts

Tuesday, March 25 @ 2:30p.m.

City Hall, Council Chambers, 2nd Floor

1221 SW Fourth Avenue

Portland, OR 97204

The Council's Community and Public Safety Committee will receive public comment on how community members would like Portland Police Bureau (PPB) to allocate personnel time.  This is a great opportunity to provide your input on prioritizing public safety in order to improve conditions in our community!  We need as many folks as possible to submit written testimony for the hearing tomorrow!

Due to limited committee time, they are only taking the first 15 testifiers...and those spots are full. So, we encourage you to submit written testimony today!

Thanks for taking action!

And a quick reminder of how far behind we are as a community regarding public safety....

Portland has the lowest percentage of its Annual City Budget dedicated to public safety!  Portland’s annual city budget is $8.2 billionand it spends $295 million on police which is 3.6% of the overall City Budget.  San Francisco spends 5.17% of its annual city budget on police;  Seattle spends 5.4%; Sacramento: 15.68%; Fresno: 14.42%; Denver: 6.26%; Las Vegas: 8%; Nashville: 9.4%; Boston: 10.3%; Milwaukee: 15.7%; Louisville: 21.9%
