RPC founder addresses what should be done on office vacancy rates in downtown Portland
In case you missed it: Jordan Schnitzer, the CEO of Schnitzer Properties, and founder of Revitalize Portland, made an appearance on KOIN News to discuss the worrisome office vacancy rates in downtown Portland. Jordan sat down with host Ken Boddie recently for an episode of Eye on Northwest Politics. In the interview, he clearly and succinctly outlines the challenges of office-to-residential conversion and the need for leadership on incentives and activation for downtown.
According to a recent study by Colliers, over 30% of office space in downtown Portland is currently unoccupied, which is significantly higher than the national average of approximately 17%. This equates to around 2.5 million square feet of office space available for rent solely in Portland's central business district.
